TOWN OF MEDWAY, MA

Des Lauriers has provided ongoing GIS services for the Town of Medway, MA that includes the implementation of a comprehensive Title V management plan.   Elements of the projects have included GIS data layer development, conversion of septic system records and management of the town’s septic loan program.

Des Lauriers implemented a Microsoft Access database management system to tracking of the applications for Disposal System Construction Permits, and The Certificates of Compliance.   The database also incorporated the DEP Subsurface Sewage Disposal System Inspection Form, parts A & C report form to track all levels of detail about any septic system inspection.

Des Lauriers scanned approximately 1,500 index cards for use in the database.  Each scanned card was indexed to link directly to the database program.

Des Lauriers also provided GIS consulting services to the town.  The town’s Generic CAD parcel data was converted to AutoCAD and GIS coverage format.  Parcels identifiers were added to each parcel polygon to establish a link to the assessor CAMA system.   A new mapping template and map design was applied to enhance map production.   Des Lauriers also developed additional data layers for use in the program including: Digitization of US Soil Conservation Service maps, Digitization National Wetlands Inventory maps, and Digitization Federal Emergency Management Flood Insurance maps.  MassGIS data layers were also converted and processed for use in the system.   Des Lauriers also recently completed an update of the parcel layer by incorporating subdivision plans submitted over a two-year period.   Des Lauriers is also providing ongoing maintenance of the GIS data by entering land plan data through coordinate geometry methods.
